Question: Provide more information on the Water Infrastructure Manager Qualification (NQF Level 8)

The Water Infrastructure Manager Qualification (NQF Level 8) focusses on the management of water infrastructure assets with respect to the acquisition, operation and maintenance of such assets to reduce associated risks and costs over the life-cycle of the water infrastructure.

An NQF level 8 is equivalent to an honour’s (post-graduate) degree.

The specific occupational tasks for a Water Infrastructure Manager include (QCTO Curriculum Document):

  • Update or develop a Water Services Development Plan.
  • Identify, design and develop water infrastructure programmes and projects.
  • Coordinate, monitor and control of operational tasks relating water infrastructure.
  • Develop and manage the water infrastructure operations and maintenance programme.
  • Monitor, update and maintain the management information system.

 

Entry Requirements

  • NQF Level 7 Qualification in Engineering (or relevant physical and/ or mathematical science with relevant experience).
  • Water Business College (WBC) recognises and will meet the national requirements for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

 

Please Note: Satisfying the general entry requirements does not equate to automatic entry to the qualification. Only a limited number of leaners can be accommodated due to the occupational nature of the qualification.

  • Water practitioners / Technical staff in the private and public sectors seeking to formalise their knowledge and years of experience with an occupational qualification.
